exporting as pdf

I am trying to export a file as a pdf for print. The file contains bleed, which bleeds 3mm off the artboard size. I put on the crop marks and export as pdf in order to distill to the appropriate printer spec from PS, but it trims the bleed to the edge of the page. It does this using the export to pdf function and the print to pdf function.

Is there a check box or something im missing with to make it realise there is bleed i need on the pdf? would appreciate help asap to meet deadline!
