White space around image after printing

I have been using Freehand for awhile to make maps, but am certainly still a novice.  I have solved most problems, but there is a pressing one that I can't seem to figure out.  After "converting to text" and exporting as a tiff file, the map looks fine on the screen.  When I print it, there is a white space around the map that I cannot get rid of.  Any suggestions?
