Can anyone help me with this font mystery? I have FH MX 11.0.2 running in OSX 10.4.11. I have converted some old FH 5.5 files to MX. They exported to eps fine in the older app. When I export an eps from FH MX (including fonts in it) and open it in InDesign, Ai, or other graphic program some of the fonts are missing on screen and also do not print on a postscript printer. I use only Postscript Type I fonts in these documents and the necessary suitcases and outline font files are present in Library/Fonts as well as in User/Library/Fonts folders. But the list of fonts that appears on the menu in FH is more extensive even after rebooting, including such items as Bauhaus 93 and Bragadoccio, which I never use. I removed all these oddball fonts from both folders noted above (and put them in a folder elsewhere) leaving only the 6 or so PS fonts that I use in the system folders. The oddballs still appear on the menu in FH nevertheless. When I search for those font names on the boot drive, they only appear in the remote folder where I moved them or on backup drives. So this leads to several questions:
Where does FH MX store its fonts? There is no font folder within its Applications folder nor within Library/Application Support, and the Adobe folder there that supports the CS4 library seems not to be used by FH. (I have a Macromedia version of FH from 2007.)
Does FH support Type I fonts? The manual says nothing about either this or the above question.
Now to make things even more mysterious, I made up several test files in FH containing only text in various fonts:
Test 1: Only Times roman, italic, bold and bold italic font - none show up in the exported Mac eps when opened in Ai. It is blank.
Test 2: Added Avant Garde, Courier, Helvetica, and Palatino to Test 1 data. - all but Avant Garde show up in the eps in Ai. Times now shows up!
Test 3: Remove Courier, Helvetica, and Palatino from Test 2 data: Only Times italic and Avant Garde show up - other Times fonts are missing.
Test 4: Replace all but Palatino: Now Avant Garde is missing and all others are visible.
And I swear I haven't been drinking!
Any ideas as to what is going on here?
As an aside: Adobe describes an update for FH at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/188/tn_18861.html, but search as I might on their site, I cannot find a link to download it. Anyone else experience this problem?
