Hi, I have an important question about exporting file in
Adobe Freehand. We have this map in freehand format (FH11) and we
want to export it to Illustrator. We used Freehand MX to export the
file in illustrator but there has been changes on the layering name
and grouping. In the freehand file there are all 81 layers and they
are categorized by layer names. But when we exported it to
illustrator (ai) 88 file there is only one layer but many sublayers
and the names for the layers which are now the sublayers in the
exported ai file have been removed and subtituted by
"<Groups>" and "<Path>". All the layers have the same
name - "<Groups>" and "<Path>". Also in the exported ai
file, there are many sublayers. in the freehand file there are only
81 layers but in the exported ai file there is only 1 layer but
200+ sublayers. This project of exporting the file in illustrator
is really important to us because we are not that knowledgeable in
freehand and we want to use illustrator and in order for us to do
that, we have to export the file from freehand to illustator with
the same layer structures and properties. It means that if there
are only 81 layers in freehand, there should also be 81 layers in
the exported illustrator file and the names for the layers will be
retained. Will this be possible? IS THERE REALLY A SOULTION TO
EXPORT FREEHAND FILES TO ILLUSTRATOR WITHOUT ANY CHANGES IN THE
LAYERING OR THE EXPORTED FILE WILL LOOK AS IT IS AND THE LAYERING
NAMES WILL BE RETAINED JUST LIKE THE FREEHAND FILE??? Please
Help... I really need the solution to this if there is any...
Thanks alot!
