I recently purchased a new Mac. While trying to install FreeHand MX 11.0.2 Build 92 (not knowing if it will even run on Intel-based models) from my original CD, my legitimate serial number is not recognized. I have no real idea why but suspect some incompatibility with the installer and Mac OSX 10.5. If any FreeHand fan has run into this bog, I’d appreciate a workaround.
Here’s what happens:
In the window where I type the serial number, the "OK" button remains grayed out and I cannot proceed. Normally, it becomes clickable when a legit serial number is entered. I have tried it several ways... with the dashes, without the dashes, caps lock is off and I'm typing the numbers from the top of the keyboard (not the number keypad). I also tried my previous serial number for a copy of FreeHand10 I purchased.
Does anyone know if Apple’s “Migration Assistant” can be used to transfer the entire application (and its library components) from my old Mac to the new one? I don’t want to run a full migration... just the specific FH application.
I emailed Adobe tech support with my original order number and purchase documentation and received a somewhat annoying form reply, stating that FreeHand 9 is no longer supported (and I repeat, this is FreeHand MX 11.0.2 -- not FH9). I was told that my only support options are to post here. I was also given a link to “upgrade” to CS (like I’ll ever trust Adobe with another penny of my hard earned money). I don’t want to use AI. Compared to FH, I find it lumpy and slow and extremely tedious.
Thanks for any tips and advice.
