Objects pane
When I try to open the Objects pane from the Windows menu in
MM Freehand MX, I get an error message that reads, "Could not
complete the request because an unknown command was encountered." I
tried restarting then even reinstalled the program but nothing
changes. Without the Objects pane there is no way to control line
weights or fills. I have to have this thing working, customers are
waiting for my drawings!

FreeHand Replacement
I've decided there really isn't one! I tried CanvasX (Mac)
and it crashed 3
times in 5 minutes. I could not get the keyboard shortcuts for zooming to
work and a few other things were broken. I wrote to their support and got no
response. Then I find out that it's an orphaned program.
Then I tried Inkscape (Mac). It can't import EPS formatted files, and the
X11 operating system is too funky for my taste.
Illustrator lacks all of the features that I find so useful in FH. I had
hoped that Adobe would have incorporated some of FH's features in CS3, but
that is not the case.
That leaves me using my old friend FH until Adobe adds my favorite FH
features to AI. I sure hope FH runs in Mac OSX 10.5. If it doesn't, then
I'll be sticking with OSX 10.4.9 for a while, or dedicating one computer to
run FH.

I've been working on a file in FreeHand 11 for a few months
now, and for some reason after saving and closing the file about a
week ago, I can no longer open it - on either of my computers (both
PCs, one running XP, one running Vista). When I attempt to do so, I
am presented with the following error message:

How can I convert my FH 7 & 8 files and their extensions?
I have several files in Freehand that I would like to convert
in a Batch, I know it can be done for Mac users but how can I do it
using my windows xp or vista? Need help asap. If anyone from Adobe
reads these will there be something done so that we may do this
without the headache of exporting? Simply because you can't batch
export in FH as far as I know. If you can, will anyone clue me in
on how to do it.

inches. I change the Custom1 setting to a new name and change the

Please could someone help me with this freehand MX problem. Its happened twice now and it's never happened to me before. I have worked for about 6 hours on this one job. I Collected for output, I know I saved it properly. I went out for a lunch break. When I came back to my computer I sat down to work again and tried to open the file it said "Could not complete your request because file not a valid FreeHand document." Yet I have been able to open it before and it IS a valid freehand document.
Do you know what's going on? Has this ever happened to you before.
I really need to recover the files. I really don't have time to redo the job.
Do you know what to do? This can't keep happening to me, I need to solve the problem somehow. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before and if they know what the problem could be and how to fix it.
I would really appreciate your help.

Freehand MX installer page not working
When you go to this page https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?loc=en_us&product=freehand to install Freehand MX, the links do not work. They send to a 404 page. I bought a new computer and I am trying to reinstall Freehand MX for the sole purpose of installing my Illustrator CS3 update. It worked perfectly on my old computer. I have a PC running Windows 8. HELP!

Does anyone know what can be used to open old Freehand 8 files?
We have a bunch of old Freehand 8 files that need to be converted. We've moved from XP to Windows 7 and Freehand 8 will not install in W7. Freehand 8 is capable of exporting files to .bmp .jpg .photoshop 3, 4 or 5 and Adobe Illustrator 5, 7 and 8.8, none of which are supported or available from Adobe any more. I need to export these files into some kind of drawing program so they can continue to be opened, modified and maintained. Does anyone know the best method for this.

Freehand MX (Win) PDF Export - Bleeds
Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to export a PDF from
Freehand MX (Win) and include crop marks? If so, how? I have set
the Bleed corerctly in the Documents properties, but it doesn't
seem to affect the Export. (BTW, I am exporting in CMYK).
If not, is there a way to do it with CutePDF? My file is a large banner, 2m X .85m
Any help appreciated. I don't do this very often and purchasing Arcobat is out of the question ;-)
