I was trying out illustrator for about a month, some time ago. I like it. Of course, I was trying to get my hands on FreeHand, but heard it is no longer supported. Does anybody know if there's going to be a new release of FreeHand? Or maybe they're finished with it altogether? Please let me know. - FreeHand enthusiast.

How can I transfer FHD MX to my new Imac, already used the license in my previous computers (I do not use anymore)?
We have a bunch of old Freehand 8 files that need to be converted. We've moved from XP to Windows 7 and Freehand 8 will not install in W7. Freehand 8 is capable of exporting files to .bmp .jpg .photoshop 3, 4 or 5 and Adobe Illustrator 5, 7 and 8.8, none of which are supported or available from Adobe any more. I need to export these files into some kind of drawing program so they can continue to be opened, modified and maintained. Does anyone know the best method for this.
I could have sworn I'd seen this before. I've got a large graphic made up of many shapes that tile and repeat themselves at various angles. They are made up of raster based images (a photo pasted inside a polygon). What I'd like to do is change ONE image and have it echo the change everywhere that shape is used. I thought I'd seen somewhere that there's a way to link all the repeats of the shape together so if I changed on, all othes would reflect that change, but I cant seem to find it, and don't even know what keywords to search under.
The application for this is to audition fabrics for a quilt pattern like this:
Rather than copy/pasting the shape over and over and working out the exact angles each time, there must be a way to make it once, and by changing ONE shape (most likely one off to the side) to show a different fabric, it will reflect the change through all the pieces that are linked to it.

Any comments yet on running FH MX under Windows 7?
I understand Windows XP can run in emulation mode in Win7 Professional version and wonder if that will be an option for running Freehand. I am using FH MX on Win XP without any major dramas, but the computer is approaching its "use by" date. Meanwhile my old Mac G4-400 running FH8.0 under OS9 chugs on happily and with rock solid reliability.

Just reinstalled Leopard.
I can no longer open Photoshop (PS) Documents with Freehand 10 or MX Freehand. All I get is a black box or a string of incoherent colors etc.
I use Freehand for creating objects which is harder to do in PS. Likewise I export Freehaqnd items to Photoshop for distribution to my publisher. Everything was working very nicely until after I reinstalled the OS X system.
What do I need to do to restore things to proper working order????
I hava new 27 inch imac running Snow leopard 10.6.2. I got FreeHand 11 running great for the last two weeks. I always got an error on launch saying " Colors picker error. " Invalid color file. I click OK and it worked anyways. Today FreeHand launches and then quits when I click OK on the error. I reinstalled freeHand with no luck. Does anyone know how to fix this?
When I launched FreehandMX last week for the first time in a while, the Transform panel was not visible, and no action I can find to take results in it becoming visible (and hence usable). Selecting Window>Transform has no effect. View>Panels has no effect. I'm running v.11.0.2 in OSX 10.6.4.

God bleeeees Freehand! I still stubbornly refuse to move to Illustrator, but...
I'm now getting bugs on bugs - this has just started happening: I paste an image into an image box, but then when I move the box it's only the box that moves - the image stays in same place. This is making Freehand pretty much impossible to use.
Any ideas? Heeeeeelp!
So I have Freehand MX .02 and thought I was very versed in the program, I can't figure out an issue I am having with the arrowheads detaching and shifting from a line after a PDF is burned???? They will disconnect themselves from a line and shift about an inch down the page or disappear altogther. HELP!!!!!
I'm trying to install Freehand on a Mac running 10.6.8. Yes, I have downloaded and installed (placed) the MXa Registration file provided by Adobe. The program does launch, but only a couple of palettes open up. The entire tool bar across the top is missing and when I try to create a new file, nothing happens.
I tied downloading the trial version 11.0.2 as suggested in another post, but the same thing happened.
Can anyone help? I would greatly appreciate it.

I had a graphic design business for 10 years and at the time found Freehand to be the best solution. Now I'm an InDesign convert but many of the old freehand files I wish I could open and convert to something in CC. I need to rebuild my portfolio and many of those old Freehand files are great works of art. I no longer have a system that will run Freehand, is there something I can run that would convert these files to Illustrator or something usable. I wish adobe would at least make a patch so I can run it on my Mac long enough to get the key files I want. Anyone have any suggestions or am I just screwed and 10 years of art is gone...

Q: I can't generate full color PDFs from Freehand MX (Mac) anymore
FH files are A4 leaflets with text and some 15-18 placed grayscale and cmyk tifs worth of approx. 135 MB.
PDFs from these files are partially b+w, partially color: all placed cmyk tifs are shown in grayscale, but cmyk vector data is in color!
I usually didn't have this problem before, it happened rarely in the last few month, but happens continuously for the last 2 days.
And it happens in an irregular way, sometimes PDFs are ok, then only partially colored, then ok again... can't find any pattern in this.
I usually generate my PDFs via printing a .ps from FH and distilling it in Acrobat in needed resolution settings.
My workaround for now is exporting as PDF from FH, re-exporting as postscript from wihtin Acrobat and re-distilling that again -
this works OK but gives lower quality imho...
what i tried:
- checked and re-checked all page setup and printing settings.
- checked all those cmyk tifs in photoshop - they are ok.
- tried printing single leaflets/pages instead of a whole series.
- converted text to pathes.
- reduced FH file sizes by duplicating files and removing all leaflets but one (per FH file), usually there are 10 leaflets/pages per FH file.
- freed (up to 33gb) space on the startup disc, just in case FH would need more scratch room for calculating .ps files
- re-installed the Acrobat 7 postscript printer and ppd files.
- sent those faulty .ps files to a printing shops, they test-distilled/checked it and it's same result,
so i guess the problem is on Freehand's not Acrobat's side...
- and finally made tons of Freehand and Mac restarts, and had Freehand as the only opened app.
Oh, and turning report printing ON in the error handling printing dialog gave no error reported... go figure.
So what else can i do now?

I am having a problem seeing the difference between say a 1pt line and a .5 line when viewing and creating an illustration at 100%. The line weights look identical. If I view or edit the illustration at say 200% the line weight difference is noticable. What is going on here?

I operate on an older system for Freehand MX which I prefer over any other drawing papp. I've lost my CS3 and need to replace it but cannot find it with Adobe? Can somebody help?
Before I buy the latest iMac with Yosemite, please could someone confirm that Freehand MX definitely will run if I install Parallels and Server 10.6.8?
