Freehand & Arabic Text
I'm on a mac using freehand MX v11.0.2
Someone has supplied me with a few words in arabic text. They display fine in textedit and in the word file supplied.
When paste into freehand however, it says font not installed and renders it as random characters
Should I be able to get arabic text into freehand or does it simply not support it?

Printing Error in Freehand MX 11
I am getting an odd error when I go to print from Freehand MX 11. I am running Windows XP with SP3. When I go to print an .eps file it tells me that "The specified printer could not be initialized. Try a different printer, or reinstall the printer driver." I have removed the printer driver and reinstalled it as well as Freehand. This does not seem to fix the issue. My default printer in Windows is set and Freehand is trying to use another printer driver associated with my multi-printer. It is trying to send it to the "Fax" driver instead of the normal printer driver. I have uploaded a screenshot of the error message. Thanks in advance for any help given. I have searched all over and have found a post, but not any answers. Thanks again.

Freehand Viewer
Hello. Many years ago in art school, I did some projects in
freehand. Fast forward to now, I can't view the files as I no
longer use the same OS as I once did. Does anyone know of a free
MAC OS freehand viewer? I have Adobe CS and that won't read the
files.

freehand print issue .help!
i print 95%magenta to postscript print using separation
method,95%magenta reduce to 90%, but 95% cyan ,yellow black do not

freehand CMYK/RGB export
Hi there.
Looking for some advice on Freehand
I have just started producing picture books and have been told by the printers they should be outputted as CMYK. Originally I created all the images in fireworks and can only export as RGB. This in its self isn’t that much of a problem as the printers can convert to CMYK during the printing process, but obviously when the pics are converted the colours tend to differ slightly.
My question is this: If I get freehand, will I be able to design and export in CMYK so the colours used in the original will hold true when they go to print?

Opening a FH11 file made under MAC platform and save for PC platform
I tried to open some FH11 files made under MAC platform and
saved for PC Platform as FH9, FH10 and FH11 version.
I have an Freehand 11.0.2 version for PC.
No matter wich version a tried to open, the message "Could not complete your request because an unknown command was encountered" appear on screenText

Dead or Alive
Many of us are working professionals that depend on Freehand
for our livelihoods, and yes, we could migrate to Illustrator, but
many like me just don't want to. Why, because we believe that
Freehand is a better program, end of argument.
Frankly I am sick and tired of the hiatus that Freehand has been in. What is it going to take someone (anyone) from Adobe to step up to the plate and disclose what is going on with Freehand. Is it dead or alive? A simple question that deserves a simple answer.
What's the big secret all about... do we really need to wait for the next version of Illustrator to find out if the features of Freehand have been integrated? It's not like disclosing this information is going to effect the share price or the sales of Illustrator, after all the have a MONOPOLY on vector software.
Adobe needs to treat working professionals with professional courtesy, like the truth on Freehands future for instance. Unfortunately it appears that Adobe knows that Freehand users have nowhere to go, so they have decided to just ignore us until we go away.

How to create a PS file out of Freehand MX?
I am new to these forums, and wonder if anyone can help

I am very late in making the transition to OSX /Freehand MX / CS1 (better late than never).
Up until recently I have been using Freehand 8/9 under OS 9.2 to create a Postscript file, selecting 'Embed All Fonts' in the save to file dialog box. Then distilling the PS file through Acrobat Distiller 5 with press ready settings. All works fine and no problems with the printed results.
Now running FH MX under OSX (10.2.8 Jaguar?) I have added a virtual PS printer but I am unable to work out how to successfully embed fonts, and would much appreciate any advice!! Thanks in advance.

Unable to change ruler units in Freehand MX
Hi, I am trying to change the ruler units from points to
inches. I change the Custom1 setting to a new name and change the
untis, click accept....it doesn't change. Uhhh what am I not

Halftone Screen & Transparency
I have imported two grayscale TIFF photos (of silhouetted
objects on a white background) into Freehand. I then applied the
"Halftone Screen" round dot pattern each. My problem is: I'm trying
to overlap the two images without the white backgrounds showing --
in essense, I want to apply a "Multiply"-like filter effect (used
in Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator). The "Transparency" option isn't
working the way I want -- it screens back the halftone images.
Rather, I'm trying to retain the values of the halftone screened
image, while allowing the second image underneath to be visible
(for example, as if you were placing blue acetate over yellow
acetate to creating a green color where the two overlap).
In addition, is it possible to raster or convert a Halftone Screened image to vector art?

Is there any info out there about whether or not FHMX users
will see equal, better or worse performance with Rosetta? I'm eager
to hear the news and Adobe's PDF doesn't seem to cover Macromedia
products, does it?

Freehand mx tool & toolbars problems
Hi. I have a problem with the tools and toolbars. They just
dont show up anymore. i've tryed from window menu to make them
on/off ... on/off but still nothing. I reinstaled the fh mx 11.0.2.
but they still dont work.please send feedback. thanks.

Freehand MX doesn't run without adminstrative rights (Win 2k)
Hi!
I have installed Freehand on Win 2k. We use server based user profiles (Win Server 2003).
Logged in as a user with administrative rights (domain admin) there are no problems with Freehand.
All other users (domain user) can't launch Freehand. After changing the user group to domain admins there are no more problems.
I don't like to give all users administrative rights. What coutld be the problem?

Problems when exporting to jpg
Hello, I have problems when exporting to jpg, when high-quality exported message appears virtual memory. I have 4 gb of RAM and virtual memory in windows 6GB

11.0.2 build 92 sluggish on OS 10.6.3 MacBook Pro
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro 2.26 GHz INtel Core Duo with 4 GB ram and installed the latest version of FH. The performance is very sluggish, sometimes taking 5-10 seconds for a new document to open after pressing the command + N keyboard combo. FH10 on my old G4 867 MP was much more responsive. Does anyone have any advice for speeding up FH11 on my new, supposedly faster computer.

Photoshop EPS file import
Help! I have recently discovered that when I import a file saved in photoshop as an EPS with JPEG preview I don't see the image, just a box with a cross in it. Any ideas anyone?
