Is sad, but Freehand ends this summer, with Mac Os X 10.7. Lion will drop Rossetta (the emulation code to support legacy Power PC programs). Freehand runs smoothly in Snow Leopard but it hasn't been ported to intel version.

How do I create a new Style that can be applied to an object?
Under the Assets menu there is a tab called “Styles”. My question is how do I create a new Style that I can apply to an object??? A link to a tutorial or something like that would be useful because I can’t find anything!!! Thanks in advance for helping me eliminate this frustration!!!

Aldus Freehand 3.1 on Windows 7
I recently lost my old harddrive with Aldus Freehand 3.1. Now I have Windows 7 64 bit on a new computer. I have all the installation floppys for Freehand 3.1, my question is, how do I go about getting an old 16 bit program installed and running on the new computer.

★ Best way to get FreeHand files into Illustrator CC.
On the FreeHand Design Facebook page, some tests were run converting FreeHand files over to Illustrator CC. These results may help you with what conversion method to use:
Using gradations and text, here's what happened when exporting from FreeHand in different formats:
1) Exporting a FH file to Illustrator 7 format will have editable text on a path but the type will shift position. Gradients will breakup into bands with noticeable borders. Blends work the best.
2) Exporting a FH file to PDF and opening into AI will have smooth Gradients and Blends, but text will breakup to individual letters and the text path is deleted. PDF's work best if there is no text in your FreeHand file.
3) Using native FH file and opening with Tensai AI Plugin in Illustrator will have accurate gradations and blends. However, text brackets on the path are collapsed on import. Expand the brackets and your editable text will appear.
If you have a FreeHand file with no text, create a PDF and open in the latest AI. If you have text, use the plugin.
When exporting TRANSPARENCY effects from FreeHand to Illustrator in different formats: (see below)
1) Original FreeHand file with Lens effect and transparency. This is how it looks in FHMX:
2) Exporting the FreeHand file to PDF and opening the PDF in Illustrator will divide the transparent sections into blocks. It also removes all actual transparency and 0% areas revert to the white background.
3) Using native FH file and opening with Tensai AI Plugins in Illustrator will keep the transparent effect intact. You can move the elements around and still have transparency.
4) Exporting a FH file to Illustrator 7 will will not work at all; it deletes the overlapping elements. (no image shown)
Bottom line is if you have one or two FH files to convert over to Illustrator, exporting your file to PDF works in most cases. If you have more complex files, or a large number of files, get the Tensai AI Plugin

Freehand MX - Need to download update 11.0.1 for Freehand 11.0
I have in install of Freehand MX 11.0 on a Mac running 10.6. I want to patch to the latest app version 11.0.2 however the download site indicates that I need to receive a different patch by contacting Adobe Customer Service. They indicated that this is the place to make this request.
Please help me get either patch 11.0.1 or a patch that can get me from 11.0 to 11.0.2

Lost my FreeHand MX install disc
I've been a registered user of FreeHand since the mid 90's, is there any way of getting a new install disc? I've moved house once too often and lost my CD, I really don't want to be a bit torrent download person.

Autochange Makromedia Freehand MXa
I use Makromedia Freehand MXa to make labels.
Sometimes there are 24 labels on the same sheet. I cut out the labels with scissor.
Now I want to have date on each label.
How can I connect these 24 textblocks, so I only have to change current date on one label then the other dates change automatically?
Is it possible?

Freehand MX - Not Installing
Hi, I have the Installation Disc for Macromedia. Its EXE. etc and asks for Serial number. When I try to open, its say "Could not initialize the Program, because an unknown command was encountered" Please help as i have my entire Work Files past decade done in Freehand. Running Windows 7 PC, and I never do Windows updates.

FHmx toolbar missing
We do not have access to the main toolbar on our Mac Intel
10.4.10 based machine for Freehand 11.0.2. Our other machine is a
generic Mac and does not have this problem. We have tried the
fixits listed for 'missing toolbar' but that doesn't appear to
work. Any clues anyone?

Font Management in MX
We've been continuing to run FH8 in OS9 Classic Environment
so we can use Type Manager & Type Reunion. I'd like to switch
to MX, but the font list is completely unworkable. What are you all
doing about font selection from Freehand in OSX? (Our Freehand
version is 11.0.2 and the OS is 10.3.9)

Installing Freehand 11 on mac os 10.8.2
Dear forum,
I just bought Freehand 11, surprisingly I cannot install it on my Imac intel based.
After searching , Freehand is a dead application which Adobe didn't care at all.
Is there anyway I can use Freehand?
Is there a legal statement that mention Adobe support on Freehand product?
Is it true that Rosetta can't work on mac os 10.8.2?
Ooh my head is start to crack...

Freehand, Parallels and Snow Leopard not working?
Hello,
I have a new El Capitan Mac, installed Parallels 12, then installed Snow Leopard Server, then Freehand MX.... I get a bouncing Freehand Icon for a few seconds then nothing, no activation window. I have tried the adobe Freehand registration link which downloads a blank file? I have tried taking my Macromedia files from my old mac and putting them in the Application Support folder, Help!! What am I doing wrong? Am I missing something?
